After months of speculation, teasers, and previews, it’s finally here. 14 years have passed since the world saw an all-new Nissan Patrol. But finally, the seventh-generation model has made its global premiere.

This isn’t just a rebody, either, as Nissan says it’s all-new from the ground up. Sporting a re-engineered chassis, an overhauled interior, and a turbocharged engine, the new generation Patrol has one main target in mind: The Toyota Land Cruiser.

For the 2025 model year, the Patrol grows even larger than before. It now measures 5,205mm long and 2,030mm wide, but has the same wheelbase as the outgoing model at 3,075mm. As for design, it’s boxier than the sixth-generation version with its dual C-shaped headlights and a grille the dominates the front fascia.

There isn’t much in the way of flares and creases on the 2025 Patrol’s flanks, giving the impression of a much larger vehicle. It does retain the fender vents, but has been redesigned in this case. The large windows are thanks to a relatively low belt line, the reverse-kink third window kicks up higher with a more angular shape.

At the rear, the vertical tail lights have made a comeback. It takes inspiration from the Y61 model that’s still in production today. Those lights are then connected by an illuminated trim piece. Also, the tailgate is noticeably less flat compared to the prior generation.

Inside, it gets a complete overhaul and borrows elements from its (even) more luxurious counterpart, the Infiniti QX80. A pair screens are housed in a single panel, making for combined display of 28.6 inches. The digital instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment system each measure 14.4 inches.

Padded leather surfaces dominate the cabin, and an option of wood or aluminum trims can be added inside. Nissan resisted the trend of putting haptic screens everywhere by putting buttons, dials, and toggle switches on the center stack. Joy of joys the drive modes are placed in a dial instead of it being buried in submenus.

A 12-speaker Klipsch Premium Audio system is available in select variants, and rear passengers can enjoy the optional rear entertainment system. Complementing the interior experience is a 64-color ambient lighting system with customizable live backgrounds. Further enhancing comfort is Biometric Cooling technology that uses built-in sensors that detects the body temperatures of the passengers. Massagers can also be added for good measure.

As luxurious as it is, this is still the Nissan Patrol we’re talking about. That means it comes a barrage of off-road features that help it traverse tough terrain. It comes with six distinct drive modes, namely standard, sand, rock, mud/rut, eco and sport. There’s also a 4WD transfer mode interlock system, a first for Nissan, allowing drivers to seamlessly switch between modes.

For the first time ever, the Nissan Patrol comes standard with air suspension. Paired with e-Damper technology, it promises effortless on-road cruising and off-road performance. Ride height is also adjustable, and is continuously variable when traveling at speed.

Powering the all-new Patrol is a new 3.5-liter V6 twin turbo engine mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. It's good for 425hp and 700Nm of torque, a significant boost over the 5.6-liter V8. A 3.8-liter V6 is also available, and that one makes a decent 318hp and 386Nm of torque. No turbodiesel options were mentioned.

To handle the vigors of off-road driving, it features a high heat-resistant turbocharger and scavenge oil pump ensuring consistent lubrication on slopes and inclines. Cooling is provided by dual electric fans and is said to be the largest ever fitted to a Nissan product.

It’s the Middle East market that gets the seventh-generation Nissan Patrol first. More markets will get it by 2026 with rollouts continuing into 2027.
