It was inevitable, really. Sooner or later, Subaru's tuning arm, Subaru Tecnica International (STI) was bound to work its magic on the BRZ, and that time has come based on some teaser images that STI has put up on its Japanese-market website.
The first image is of a twisty mountain road with the words "Purity of Handling" superimposed on top of it, followed by a close-up of the aluminum STI fender garnish that replaces the plain one on the standard BRZ. After the words "Coming Soon" fades in and then out of the screen, we're given a glimpse of the BRZ STI's front fascia. Though it still looks like the regular BRZ, an STI badge is clearly visible on the upper right corner of the lower grille.
Although no mention was made if this will be a turbocharged version of the BRZ, we coud surmise from the first image that the BRZ STI would definitely sport some suspension upgrades.
With the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show scheduled from November 22 to December 1 later this year, it's safe to assume the Subaru BRZ STI will make its debut there, two years after the BRZ made its public debut at the 2011 staging of the same show.
