Following the global debuts of the all-new Impreza and XV, Subaru has just revealed its new SUV concept at this year's New York International Auto Show. The new vehicle is named Ascent, and it's got quite a few goodies in store.
For one, its powered by an all-new turbocharged direct injection boxer engine. On the outside, it follows Subaru’s “Dynamic x Solid” design theme that includes powerful fender flares (which apparently represent Subaru’s all-wheel drive system), big 21-inch tires, plus a large grille. If you ask us, the latter looks reminiscent of the one on the current Ford Explorer.
The interior, meanwhile, has a flowing dashboard design and a three-row, seven-passenger configuration with center captain’s seats. The Ascent measures 5,050mm long, 1,989mm wide, and 1,839mm high. It has a long 2,972mm wheelbase.
The production version of the Ascent will be based on a modified version of Subaru's new global platform. Unfortunately, it will only be sold exclusively in North American starting in 2018. Do you guys like the new SUV concept?
