When the new Subaru Outback was launched, people hailed it for its versatility. It was comfortable--a sound long-distance vehicle that offered the space of an MPV and the off-road capability of a crossover SUV. Good news for those who want one: It can now be had for cheaper, too.
Motor Image Pilipinas has just announced the release of the Subaru Outback 2.5i-S, a more affordable variant of the Japanese carmaker's AWD wagon. Just how much cheaper is the 2.5i-S? At P2,068,000, this new variant is over P200,000 less than the Outback 3.6R, a pretty good deal considering the vehicle still features the same roomy interior and excellent safety features.
The Outback 2.5i-S packs a more fuel-efficient horizontally opposed 2.5-liter DOHC engine capable of 175hp at 5,800rpm. It also still features Subaru's excellent Symmetrical AWD system and X-Mode technology, meaning you should still be able to enjoy a little off-roading every now and then. While not as powerful as the 3.6R, this Outback has been updated with improvements to its mid- to low-range torque, allowing it to hit 235Nm at a lower 4,000rpm.
If a cheaper Outback isn't enough to get Subaru fans excited, maybe a further price reduction will. Motor Image Pilipinas is currently offering the Outback 2.5i-S variant at an introductory discount of P100,000 for the first 50 customers, so you might want to head over to the nearest Subaru showroom if you're interested in taking advantage of this introductory offer.
