It is currently graduation season at the University of the Philippines, and that gave us a thought: What if this special ‘Maroon Edition’ Suzuki Jimny was a student’s celebratory project car or a commemorative release?
In reality, this one-off is currently a display model from Suzuki Queensland in Australia. It stands as a tribute to the state, and local offices are currently surveying the possibility of creating more Maroon Edition units for public sale.

At its core, it is a three-door Jimny Rhino Edition that was then sent to The Wrap Boutique in Brisbane. There, it was given racing stripes, additional decals, and, of course, that nice maroon color. The spare tire cover around back also got a similar treatment. Overall, it is a really clean build, and we hope to see more city-inspired, or heck, even university-inspired Jimny designs.

Like the Jimny Rhino Edition we have at home, Australian units are also equipped with the standard powertrain. That means the same 1.5-liter engine, 101hp and 130Nm of torque is on deck.

The Rhino Edition’s additional mud flaps and garnishes are also present, but unlike the Philippine-spec Jimny, the one Down Under gets Suzuki’s heritage grille. We get the chrome-finished fascia with the carmaker’s logo, but I do prefer the simpler look of the Suzuki letters.
