For the unaware, the Toyota Yaris GR Sport is the more conservative twin of the GR Yaris that we all know and love here in the Philippines. Compared to the 2025 Toyota GR Yaris, which made its regional debut at the Thailand International Motor Expo the other week, the GR Sport trim definitely looks more casual and friendlier to drive.
And for some drivers, that is exactly what they are looking for: A car that gives them the confidence to outrun others in traffic, but also isn’t going to wake the neighbors with a powerful and angry exhaust.
In the European market, the 2025 Toyota Yaris GR Sport debuted in a cool new ‘Storm Grey’ color with a new 18-inch wheel design that features a matte finish. There is also some added ‘GR’ stitching across the headrests and a two-tone finish over the roofline and the rear.

It employs the same hybrid powertrain found on the previous generation Toyota Yaris, which is comprised of a 1.5-liter engine and dual electric motors that make 129hp. The chassis and suspension also received a few modifications and tweaks that should give it a more sporty driving experience.
In our region, the Yaris GR Sport is currently sold in Indonesia, and that market has yet to receive this newly colored hatchback.

We’re eagerly waiting for the 2025 GR Yaris to make its way to the Philippines, but perhaps this Sport trim wouldn’t be such a bad consolation release. It will definitely sell for a cheaper price, but of course that comes with a less powerful engine and overall performance.
