Xiaomi is back in the automotive industry with its second vehicle, following up on its SU7 hypercar. Called the Xiaomi YU7, it stands as the Chinese brand’s foray into the electric performance SUV segment. While it is taller, wider, and seats more people than the SU7, Xiaomi made sure it does not lag behind too much.
While the SU7 can hit the 0-100kph sprint in advertised 1.98sec, which would make it the fastest road-legal four-door car in the world, the YU7 runs the same sprint in a much more ‘conservative’ 3.2sec. That would, of course, change if you had the second row filled up with passengers or the trunk full of cargo—this is still an SUV after all.

And quite a large SUV it is. The Xiaomi YU7 measures in at 4,999mm long, 1,996mm wide, and 1,600mm tall with a wheelbase of about 3,000mm. That makes it longer and wider than a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, but shorter than something like a Honda CR-V.
Underneath, a double wishbone suspension is mounted up front while a separate, five-link suspension handles the rear. This should make those 3.2sec sprints feel buttery smooth, while your insides get rearranged by the g-force. Interestingly, that suspension system is also adjustable to five levels, with a lowest ground clearance setting of just 75mm. It then tops out 222mm at the highest setting.

There are three variants that are mainly differentiated by battery size, with the top-spec’d ‘Ultra’ setup packing a 101.7kW battery that powers a dual-motor, AWD system. That powerplant then makes 680hp and 528Nm of torque. Driving-wise, Xiaomi advertises the Ultra YU7 with a range of 770km.
Prices have yet to be announced in China, but the order books are expected to open in July later this year. Xiaomi has yet to bring in its EVs to Philippine roads, but there have been some sightings around the grey market.
