The magic begins on the racetrack
Jul 28, 2009
Local motorsports fans are in for a treat this weekend with two events set to launch the Speed Month at the Enchanted Kingdom.
Young karters from the Formula SL Novice, Expert, Heavy, Cadet 60CC and Mini-Rok divisions are competing on the fifth leg of the 2009 Magnolia Karting Series on August 1 and 2. The race will be held on Enchanted Kingdom's 600-meter kart track.
Aside from the karting event, Enchanted Kingdom will also host the 2009 Rally Extreme on August 2 on a makeshift dirt track. Among those expected to participate are rally racing luminaries Vip and Ivan Isada, and auto tuning stalwarts Ferman Lao and Pacho Blanco.
Flagging off both events are Enchanted Kingdom president and chairman Mario O. Mamon, Carmona Race Track managing director Johnny Tan, and San Miguel Corp. motorsports consultant Jose Ochoa Jr.
Other motorsports activities at the Enchanted Kingdom in August include underbone, slalom and autocross competitions plus a display of old school and customized cars. See Top Gear's online calendar for the schedule.
