The search for popular Porsche tuner Uwe Gemballa has come to an end as his body was recently found in a South African town.
Gemballa’s body was reportedly found wrapped up in Atteridgeville. South Africa’s Sunday Times said his hands were bound behind his back and he was said to have a gunshot wound at the back of his head.
Gemballa flew to South Africa last February to set up a local franchise of his tuning firm, Gemballa Automobiletechni, in partnership with Czech billionaire Radovan Krejcir. Gemballa was said to have called his wife in Germany a day after his arrival in the African continent, asking for her to transfer €1 million (roughly P60 million) to a bank account because he was involved in a “little accident."
The Sunday Times report cites three unnamed sources privy to the investigation saying that Gemballa’s cars were going to be used to smuggle money for laundering into South Africa by hiding it inside the door panels.
