May 15, 2009

Ferrari comes to the aid of the earthquake-stricken Abruzzo region in central Italy.

The Italian carmaker will auction off this weekend a unique F430 - the last of its kind - and proceeds will be channeled to the region's disaster relief program.

The special F430, scheduled to be completed by the end of the year, will bear the traditional colors of Aquila - silver and gold. Aquila was hit the hardest during the April 6 earthquake that left almost 300 people dead.

To further sweeten the deal further, the winning bidder will be invited to Maranello to pick out the final specifications for his F430, as well as have the opportunity to choose from Ferrari's extensive Carrozzeria Scaglietti catalogue.

The F430 is one of many pedigreed Ferraris on the auction block at the third annual Ferrari Leggenda e Passione auction on May 17.
