Bentley is celebrating its record-breaking speed record on ice with the production of 100 limited-edition units of the Supersports Ice Speed Record, a potent car that produces a whopping 631hp.
Based on the Bentley Continental Supersports convertible, the Supersports Ice Speed Record is equipped with a 6.0-liter, twin-turbo W12 engine that delivers 800Nm of torque.
Paired to the Quickshift six-speed automatic transmission, this limited-edition model can go from zero to 100kph in 4.0 seconds and reach 160kph in 9.4 seconds before attaining a top speed of 325kph.
Keeping all that in check are large diameter carbon ceramic brake discs with eight-piston calipers at the front to provide fade-resistant stopping power.
Despite these impressive performance figures, Bentley said the Supersports Ice Speed Record is an environment-friendly grand tourer with its FlexFuel technology that allows it to run on petrol, E85 bio-ethanol or a combination of the two. To ensure that power and torque remain constant regardless of the ratio of petrol to biofuel, an on-board fuel supply system monitors the content of the tank.
While the car's power is indeed impressive, the interior doesn't stray from the kind of opulence Bentley has always been known for. Diamond-quilted Alcantara leather adorn the doors, quarter panels and seat facings while "soft-grip" leather wraps around the steering wheel and gear lever.
Unique to the Ice Speed Record variant are the high-gloss carbon fiber on the dashboard, centre console and roof panel, which features a unique red weave. The theme continues with red piping on the seats and doors while the seats, door casings, steering wheel and gearshift paddles also have red contrast stitches. Completing the cabin's unique touches are the embroidered "Supersports" legends on the seats and floor mats while the signature Breitling dashboard clock also has a red accent.
"The Continental Supersports Ice Speed Record is a true driver's car that captures that unique Bentley spirit. It offers extreme performance, agility and an extrovert personality, while retaining the refinement, handcrafted luxury and comfort our customers expect," said Bentley chairman and chief executive Wolfgang Duerheimer.
Bentley will offer the Supersports Ice Speed Record in three exterior paint colors: Beluga, Quartzite and, fittingly, Arctica White.
