The Trans Sport Show, the Philippines' longest-running automotive aftermarket show and car exhibition, opened its doors today at the SMX Convention Center in the Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City.
On its 20th year, the Trans Sport Show shares the exhibit floor with the 4th Manila Sports Car Club Concours d' Elegance and the very first Philippine Nostalgic Motor Show to create what organizers call the Grand 3-Ring Motoring Event.
"It's been four years since the last Concours d' Elegance so we decided to hold the fourth one together with the 20th anniversary of the Trans Sport Show," said Sophie delos Santos, president of event organizer Trade Show International. "And I've always planned to hold the very first Philippine Nostalgic Motor Show together with the Trans Sport Show so that's how we came up with this Grand 3-Ring Motoring Event."
The Trans Sport Show pits the latest modified cars against the recently-restored classic cars.
In Concours d' Elegance entries are limited to just 30 of the best restored and most well-preserved cars in the Philippines. One can almost say that only the past winners of the Trans Sport Show's Best of Show awardees are qualified to join the competition; eight of the Trans Sport Show's 20 previous Best of Show winners are competing in this year's Concours d' Elegance.
With the Philippine Nostalgic Motor Show, Trade Show International is giving owners of 1980s-era and older vehicles a venue to display their passion.
"We're featuring cars that were made from 1989 and older; basically the same cars that were brand-new when the first Trans Sport Show was held," said delos Santos. "And it's only on its first day but I've already been hearing a lot of good things about the Philippine Nostalgic Motor Show so we just might stage this every other year."
If checking out classically restored cars and painstakingly modified vehicles isn't your thing, the venue also has stalls from popular aftermarket automotive shops and accessories.
Of course, the car-show girls and models are ever-present so that's another good reason to drop by.
TSI's Grand 3-Ring Motoring Event will run until May 29 from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
