There's talk that Columbian Autocar Corporation, the country's authorized distributor of Kia vehicles, has acquired the distributorship license for Chery from Iseway Motors, the beleaguered local distributor of the Chinese car brand.

TopGear.com.ph learned about the development from a source claiming to have inside knowledge of it.

Palermo Soriano Jr., CAC's marketing services manager, however, denied his company's involvement with Chery, saying that "it's all speculation."

Iseway Motors has been unusually quiet as it deals with customers complaining about the atrocious quality of Chery vehicles and the distributor's lack of after-sales support. This year has also seen several Chery showrooms getting closed due to poor sales performance.

If there is credence to this leak, we wonder how Columbian will repair the damaged image of Chery in general, and how it will position the Chinese brand alongside Kia in particular.
