If you visit Volkswagen Philippines\' official website, you\'ll see that there\'s a \"Models\" pull-down menu that shows the company\'s initial array of product offerings for our market. (They will officially launch the brand and the cars on September 27.) Listed there are the Beetle, the Jetta, the Touran, the Tiguan and the Touareg--complete with their basic specs as well as downloadable brochures.
Here\'s the interesting part: Contrary to what Volkswagen Philippines sales and marketing head Arnel Doria has previously told us--that all cars will come with diesel engines except for the petrol-powered Beetle--it turns out that some of the cars will be available with both diesel and gasoline powerplants, at least according to the website. The Jetta, the Touran and the Tiguan will apparently be equipped with either a TDI (Turbocharged Direct Injection) diesel or TSI (Turbocharged Stratified Injection) gasoline engine.
Below are the cars\' basic specs, based on what\'s shown on the website. (Not included on the website is the Polo, which Doria said was going to be launched with the initial batch.)
