Number coding is something we’ve all learned to live with. It’s a nonsensical rule implemented in lieu of proper road planning and responsible traffic enforcement. But it’s what we have, and it looks like it’s here to stay.
But number coding has made one sector happy—the automotive sector. By limiting the use of cars by one day, motorists who could afford one more car purchased a backup vehicle. And with the EVIDA act exempting EVs and hybrids from number coding, sales of these types of vehicles have also experienced a boost.
Still, many are still unfamiliar with how EVs and hybrids ride and drive. Compared to diesel- and petrol-powered vehicles that have been with us for decades, cars with electric motors have only been here for about a dozen years. So it’s best to try before you buy.
Those who want to test drive and compare EVs, hybrids and petrol-powered vehicles can experience them at the Auto Focus Summer Test Drive Festival, making a return to the SM Mall of Asia Open Grounds in Pasay City this month. And if you’re just looking for the typical petrol car we’ve all grown used to, you can also try them here.
The annual event brings together in one venue the country’s biggest brands to showcase and provide test drives of their local lineup of vehicles. This year 17 automotive brands, many of them offering hybrid vehicles as well as full electrics, are participating in the festival which takes place on May 9 to 12, 2024.
Brands that will be available for test drive include BYD, Changan, Dong Feng, Ford, GAC, Geely, GWM, Honda, Hyundai, Isuzu, Jetour, Kia, MG, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Suzuki, and Toyota.
At the event, prospective buyers can also discover and compare the best deals, discounts and financing offered by participating brands. The Auto Focus Summer Test Drive festival will be held from May 9 to 12, 2024, 11am to 9pm at the SM Mall of Asia Open Grounds. Entrance and test drives are free.
