It won’t be long till we see more Hino Eco Class PUV units plying our roads thanks to the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP). Hino Motors Philippines (HMP), the exclusive distributor of Hino trucks in the country, is one of the participants in the PUVMP, and it has now received its certificate of compliance for the Eco Class PUV Class 2 and Class 3 variants from the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

The PUVMP envisions a restructured, modern, well-managed, and environmentally sustainable transport sector. Since the program’s inception in 2017, HMP has turned over close to 400 modern PUV units to various cooperatives in Manila, Quezon City, and Quezon province. The company also showcased the Modern PUV Class II at the recently concluded Transport and Logistics Expo.

Hino’s modern jeepneys are Euro 4-compliant and air-conditioned. They also come with side-facing seats and can accommodate 26 passengers, with 19 seated and seven standing. The units feature speed limiters, GPS, in-vehicle CCTVs, electronic Beep card systems, and dashboard-mounted cameras, meeting the technical requirements set by the Bureau of Philippine Standards.

“We are positive that with our vehicles and our commitment to deliver total support, we will be able to contribute to creating a modern, safer and more sustainable transportation system in the Philippines,” says HMP president Mitsuharu Tabata.
