In July, Honda announced that its Indonesian subsidiary, P.T. Honda Prospect Motor, was developing an entry-level MPV for the Asian market that would be launched at the Indonesia International Motor Show. Now that the car show has opened its doors, here is the vehicle as promised.
Known as the Mobilio, the MPV is Honda's very first entry-level MPV model and was developed exclusively for the Asian market.
According to Honda, despite using a compact body, the Mobilio has a spacious cabin that can seat seven occupants with its three-row configuration. Also, taking into consideration the road surfaces in Asia, the Mobilio has a ground clearance of "as high as 185mm, which is equivalent to the ground clearance of SUVs."
Powered by a 1.5-liter i-VTEC four-cylinder engine, the Mobilio is expected to offer excellent driving performance while being fuel-efficient.
Production of the Mobilio will begin in January 2014 when P.T. Honda Prospect Motor's second plant in the Karawang region of Indonesia becomes operational.
Since it's developed for the Asian market, should Honda Cars Philippines bring this in?
