BMW Philippines will now be led by Jacob Ang (pictured above; fourth from the left), as announced by SMC Asia Cars Distributors (SMCACD)—the local operators of the German carmaker. Ang will be succeeding outgoing president Spencer Yu, who is coming off a seven-year stint as BMW PH’s boss.
While young in years, Ang has complete support from SMCACD, as solidified by chairman Ramon Ang: “Jacob’s leadership and fresh perspective will help us further strengthen BMW’s presence in the Philippines... We have built a strong foundation over the years, and with his energy and vision, I am confident he will take the brand further and create even more value for our customers.”

And it looks like customer relations will be one of Ang’s main focuses as president. “My priority is to build on what we do best—drive innovation in how we serve our customers, and strengthen BMW’s position as the leader in premium mobility in the country,” said Ang.
Ang and BMW are still running on the momentum of the recently debuted M5 Touring. That release also builds on the brand’s roster of electrified vehicles, specifically bolstering BMW’s plug-in hybrid offerings. With the new iX3 expected to launch in Munich later this week, we may see another surge in fully electric Bimmers in the near future.
