Every so often, an automotive brand launches a model that truly shakes up the market. For Honda Cars Philippines (HCPI), it was the Honda Civic Type R. From the fifth-generation FK8 to the sixth-generation FL5, the Japanese carmaker made waves in the Philippines with its hot hatch.
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and for the current-gen FL5, it’s almost reached the finish line. Honda has just announced that the 2025 model year Civic Type R is down to the “last few remaining units,” and sooner rather than later, we’ll have to bid it goodbye.
The company, however, says this isn’t goodbye but “a celebration of an unforgettable era.” And we couldn’t agree more. The FK8 was the model that showed Filipinos what a Civic can achieve with the right engineering, and the FL5 was what pushed those limits even further. It’ll go down as one of the most memorable models Honda has ever sold in our market.

It’s the end of an era for the Civic Type R in the Philippines, but we know this won’t be the last that we’ll see of this famed five-door. Until Honda builds the next one, we’ll be more than happy to keep celebrating the legend that is the FL5. And for those of you who’ve always hit pause on that Type R purchase, well, this is the sign you’ve been looking for.
