The Bureau of Customs has recently recognized Mitsubishi Motors Philippines as the fourth-largest importer in the country. That title particularly comes from Mitsubishi’s performance from the first half of the year, spanning from January 1 to June 30, 2025.
In that time, Mitsubishi contributed about P6.1 million in revenue, accounting for more than 9% of the bureau’s overall collections.

While some of the brand’s most popular models are manufactured in the Philippines, other beloved nameplates such as the Xpander, Montero, and Triton are imported. It is unclear just how many vehicles Mitsubishi brought in this year, but overall, the Japanese carmaker has sold 44,021 units in the first half of 2025. That figure solidifies its spot as the second-largest automaker in the Philippines.

Moreover, sales figures from 2024 also confirmed that the Philippines is the third-largest market for Mitsubishi, just behind Japan and the United States. In that year, over 89,000 Mitsubishi vehicles were sold in the country, surpassing sales numbers in Canada, Australia, and Thailand.

Perhaps that is the reason Mitsubishi chose to reveal its DST Concept at the 2024 Philippine International Motor Show. We now know that the concept is the all-new Destinator SUV, which could already be on Philippine soil. It’ll be interesting to see how a brand-new nameplate will impact Mitsubishi’s performance and how Filipino drivers will take to the new car.
However, the fan-favorites Xpander and Mirage have also recently received a facelift and a slew of technical upgrades. It looks like Mitsubishi is holding a balancing act between new and old nameplates to fortify its spot in the Philippine market.
