On February 15, the next generation of skaters shredded all over the brand-new Valenzuela Skate and Paw Park, in a skateboarding competition organized by the Valenzuela City government and the NLEX Corporation.
Representatives from the NLEX Corporation, and its operating company Metro Pacific Tollways (MPTC), joined the Valenzuela City government in the ribbon-cutting ceremony that officially opened the park. This public space is also pet-friendly, so Valenzuelanos can bring their dogs and cats along with their skateboards and rollerblades.

The city of Valenzuela has been a key area for the development of NLEX and its supplementing expressways. The city’s strategic location serves as the main entry point for the NLEX Harbor Link, along Mindanao Avenue in Valenzuela, which helps motorists around the area access Manila City, Navotas City, and the NLEX Connector. The latter includes access to the Skyway system, NAIAX, and eventually SLEX.
Once completed, the NLEX Harbor Link should help make travel times between Valenzuela City, Quezon City, and other surrounding localities, faster and more efficient. The final planned segment will create direct access to Commonwealth Avenue, and C5 via Katipunan Avenue. Currently, the NLEX Corporation and MPTC are still finalizing right-of-way agreements for the expressway.
The NLEX Corporation and MPTC have also been staunch supporters of youth sports and development through various team and event sponsorships. Most known for their various involvements in basketball, including a team in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), the two corporations have extended their reach to youth skateboarding.
