When Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) finally launched the all-new Tamaraw, it didn’t unveil the full lineup. There were already multiple variants available then, but the smaller and more affordable offerings weren’t included just yet.

Now, TMP has officially expanded (albeit quietly) the Tamaraw roster with the introduction of the short-wheelbase version. Three variants have been added to the lineup: the Dropside, Aluminum Cargo, and Utility Van versions of the 2.0 MT-spec Tamaraws.

The Dropside comes with a very friendly sticker price of P757,000, while the Aluminum Cargo at P808,000 and Utility Van at P1.01 million. For reference, the 2.4 Dropside MT—the gas and diesel variants—sticker for P937,000, nearly P200k more than the base SWB. You can check out the full price list below.

The short-wheelbase Tamaraw stands at 4,965mm long and 1,795mm wide with a 2,750mm wheelbase. Long-wheelbase versions, meanwhile, are 5,300mm long with a 3,085mm wheelbase. Note, however, that pictured above is the correct short-wheelbase Tamaraw Dropside, but that’s from TMP’s display at the 2024 Philippine International Motor Show, and it’s been fitted with all sorts of aftermarket parts.

As for the powertrain, the Tamaraw 2.0 Dropside MT SWB gets a 2.0-liter 1TR-FE gasoline engine pushing out 137hp at 5,600rpm and 183Nm of torque at 4,000rpm and is mated solely to a five-speed manual gearbox. Again, for reference, the 2.4-liter turbodiesel option puts out 11hp and 160Nm more than this. For a full look at the Tamaraw stable, you can check out this article.

Have you been seeing these new Tamaraws on the road already? We have. Heck, even social media personalities have started picking up (no pun intended) their units, like motovlogger MotoDeck.
