The launch of the all-new Subaru Forester earlier this year was met with a somewhat mixed reception. On the one hand, the new compact SUV is built on Subaru’s current global platform, which is definitely a good thing. On the other, many wondered why the Japanese carmaker suddenly removed the model’s turbo variant.
Speaking to someone from Motor Image Pilipinas (our country’s official Subaru distributor) at the Forester’s launch, we learned that the exclusion is part of a strategy to drive up sales volume. The number of potential turbo customers, it seems, isn’t enough to warrant the expense of producing the said variant. Still, there are some people who are clamoring for the forced-induction-spec Forester. The good news is, there are still some units remaining of the turbocharged previous-gen model.
This month, the Subaru Forester XT is available with a P150,000 cash discount. In addition, you get a Sport Kit worth roughly the same amount of money. The added accessories include sporty exterior accents, daytime running lights integrated into the front bumper, an STI leather shift knob, and a Sport emblem.
The promo is being offered only in May 2019, so look into it now if you’re interested.
