Lamborghini will unveil its luxury sport-utility vehicle crossover concept at the Beijing Auto Show in April, Autonews.com reported.

According to the site, an unnamed senior executive at Audi, Lamborghini's parent company, confirmed the news when asked if Lamborghini will be unveiling a successor the Italian carmaker's original SUV, the LM002, with a new SUV concept.

"I can't comment in detail but the speculation in the press is largely correct," the Audi executive is quoted saying.

The report added that if the Lamborghini SUV does go into production, it could go on sale by 2016 and go up against the likes of the Maserati Kubang, the BMW X6 and a similar four-door vehicle confirmed by Mercedes-Benz last November 2011.

Do you think Lamborghini should join the SUV bandwagon or should it remain a supercar builder?
