Mexico produces another niche automotive company

The Mastretta is no longer the lone Mexican sports carmaker now that a new \"highly specialist vehicle manufacturer\" from the same Latin American country has announced that it will launch its very first model at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed in July.

Vuhl--pronounced as \'vool\' and is short for \'Vehicles of Ultra-lightweight and High-performance--is the brainchild of brothers Iker and Guillermo Echeverria, whose Mexican/American design agency, Etxe, penned the car known as the Vuhl 05. Reportedly, other than the Echeverria brothers, the company\'s blue-chip backers include private investors and the Mexican government.

According to Vuhl, the 05\'s handling was optimized in the United Kingdom, while its body will be fabricated in Canada with the chassis production and final assembly to be conducted in Mexico City.

\"We intend Vuhl products to be renowned for their effective simplicity and aesthetics guided by a purity of function,\" said Iker Echeverria. \"The 05 and its successors will also be notable for uncompromising build quality, rigorous attention to detail and a driving experience par excellence.\"
