TopGear.com.ph Philippine Car News - Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution: The real score

The report saying Mitsubishi Motors is about to kill the Lancer Evolution elicited violent reactions earlier. Here are excerpts from just a few of the comments posted by our readers:

"No Way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If it continues to sell very well, then why cease its production?" - joab565

"No way, Mitsu! This is a joke. The Evo is what makes Mitsubishi special." - TJPewter

"It's like the end of the world for me." - mitsuboy

And then we received an email from Mitsubishi Motors Philippines that includes a note from the brand's headquarters.

Here's the statement from Tokyo:

"Production of the current Lancer Evolution continues as planned. As for its successor, regulations and market feedback will dictate its engineering package and architecture.

MMC has kept the Lancer Evolution evolving itself as the most performing model in the global market. However, as the needs and demands change, MMC is considering not to keep the Lancer Evolution evolve in the way as before, but to find the different direction to evolve. The new direction and corresponding products will be disclosed in due course."

There you have it, folks. The Evolution will just evolve in some other way. Now, let's wait and see what Mitsubishi comes up with next. What do you think?
