The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has taken its real-time traffic navigator to the next level by making it available as an iOS application.

This means users iPhone and iPad users who have Internet access while on the go can get updated traffic information on major roads under the MMDA's jurisdiction.

"The MMDA iOS app is the first Philippine government agency mobile application," says the MMDA iTunes page. "It allows you to view Metro Manila's traffic situation in an easy to use and convenient app. The app also contains MMDA's FAQs for easy reference on the road."

The MMDA app was developed by the agency's in-house tech team led by Traffic Discipline Office head Yves Gonzalez.

MMDA's iOS app was released on September 17 and it has been enjoying the top spot among free apps available on iTunes since September 18.
