Here's some good news for those affected by the temporary shutdown of some LRT-2 stations after a fire broke out along the line a few days ago.
In our latest update, operations have resumed from Cubao to Recto and back from 6:00am-8:30pm—a shorter period than usual to allow more time for maintenance. The affected stations from Santolan to Anonas remain closed off for further repairs.
But all is not lost. Apart from P2P buses and modern PUVs on standby to help commuters, Angkas is also offering a helping hand. Here is its statement: "In view of the current crisis affecting the operations of LRT-2 , Angkas will be deploying free Angkas service for commuters in the affected LRT-2 stations for the next few days. Angkas is also working on a long-term plan to station bikers around the affected area with corresponding promos. Angkas will continuously support and work with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) in finding solutions to our traffic woes.
Check out the Facebook post of the Angkas page below. It looks like the free rides have already begun.
The free-ride schedule is as follows: From Santolan to Recto station and vice-versa from Tuesday to Thursday, 8:00am to 10:00am, and 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
Thank you, Angkas!
