In late 2019, the first 10km segment of the highly-anticipated Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) finally opened to the public. What’s more, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) later announced the thoroughfare would be operational 24 hours a day.
If you’ve added CALAX to your list of go-to routes down south since then, pay attention: The Metro Pacific Tollway Corporation (MPTC) has announced the expressway will be closed to motorists from 1am to 4am on January 28 to 31 (Tuesday to Friday) and February 4 to 7 (Tuesday to Friday). Look:
According to the MPTC’s Facebook post, the closure is to make way for clearing and construction operations. Thankfully, it will only in the wee hours of the morning and just for a handful of days.
Also, in case you or your car club are planning to head down south to aid ongoing Taal Volcano relief operations, CALAX management has announced it will waive toll fees provided you coordinate with expressway management.
