It looks like the courier and delivery services industry is set to see the introduction of a new player, as a celebrity has just revealed his plans to launch a new delivery app soon.
In a recent live chat, actor Dingdong Dantes talked briefly about the upcoming ‘DingDong PH’ delivery app that’s currently in the works. Asked how he came about the project, he mentioned that it started when his wife, actress Marian Rivera, and her home-based flower business encountered some delivery problems. Dingdong responded by volunteering to get on his scooter and deliver the flowers to the client himself.
“Doon nag-umpisa ’yung idea, at lumawak na lang siya in the past weeks. After talking to like-minded friends who share the same vision and passion, an idea was developed—hence, the birth of Doorbell Technologies.”
The actor, who himself is also known as an avid rider, added that this new app-based delivery service will employ riders from the pool of entertainment industry workers that have been displaced due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I have several workmates who lost their jobs in the entertainment industry. And to reveal one part of that whole ecosystem, ’yung riders na gagamitin natin ay yung mga nawalan ng trabaho dito sa industriya namin,” said Dingdong.
Apart from these, no further details were revealed. The DingDong PH Facebook and Instagram pages, however, are already up and running. Look:
