In case you missed it, Boracay is set to reopen to outsiders by October 26, 2018.

If you've been itching to hit the pristine sands of the country's world-renowned island paradise, you might not have to wait much longer.

Thankfully, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) have taken steps to ensure that Boracay's ecosystem doesn't take a turn for the worse again. Among these measures is the deployment of environment-friendly electric transports to ferry both locals and visitors around the island.

The photo you see above is of an electric tricycle unit scheduled to be handed over to the island paradise. The DOTr says it is currently working on the units' deeds of donation, but they are scheduled to be deployed on the same day Boracay opens on October 26.

Of course, locals and authorities can only do so much to preserve Boracay's IG-worthy beaches. If you want to ensure that the island doesn't close its doors a second time, take it upon yourself to keep its shores clean.
