If you traverse EDSA regularly—specifically the northern parts of it—then you’re probably dreading the upcoming partial closure of the southbound portion of the EDSA-Kamuning flyover. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) recently held a press briefing to discuss matters regarding it, and there are a few updates you should know.
Firstly, the contract for the project is one full year, not just 11 months. However, this does not mean the flyover will be partially closed for that entire duration. The repairs for the EDSA-Kamuning flyover will include re-decking for the first six months, which will result in the partial closure. For the remainder of the project duration, repairs will be done under the bridge, so it should no longer affect traffic then. Second, the partial closure is scheduled for May 1.

The project will also be divided into two phases: Phase 1 will allow private vehicles to pass through the flyover, while Phase 2 will provide access to buses. There are proposals, however, to allow only buses traversing the busway to use the flyover for both phases.
The MMDA will be rerouting traffic for the duration of this project. The agency will also conduct more road-clearing operations across Mabuhay Lanes to free up alternate routes for motorists. We’ve listed down some alternate routes below that the MMDA provided as well.
