Motorists getting apprehended for entering the EDSA Busway is a common sighting. Every once in a while, though, there are a few incidents that go viral for various reasons. One of those recent incidents included a PBA player who tried to bribe his way out of a ticket.
To start off the week, we have yet another, and it’s an even bigger head-scratcher than the last one. Gadget Addict recently shared on Facebook a video showing a rider who got caught misusing the Busway. The man in the video refused to surrender his driver’s license, saying “Papasok na ako sa trabaho,” as if giving his license was an option.
The rider kept trying to reason out that he was just trying to avoid the traffic using the busway. The Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (SAICT) officer told him that there would be no reason to flag down the rider for, well, no apparent reason. “Ah hindi, dapat lahat ng rules may exemption kayo,” the rider said. Say what now?

We’re trying to make sense of what the guy is saying, but we believe he wants to tell the enforcers that riders shouldn’t be apprehended for just using the EDSA Busway to try and weave in and out through traffic. No, sir, that’s not how it works.
As the SAICT officer pointed out, that’s dangerous and riders could get hit by the buses passing through. Besides, what’s the point of the exclusive bike lanes if motorcycles would be allowed to use them, too?
It took 30 minutes before the rider finally surrendered his license. But the debacle didn’t end there, as enforcers found out the rider didn’t have the OR and CR of his motorcycle, which resulted in another ticket. Lucky for him, his vehicle didn’t end up getting impounded.
