Rep. Joseller "Yeng" Guiao (1st District, Pampanga) has filed House Resolution 1644, asking the Department of Public Works and Highways to build a direct access road linking the Clark International Airport in Pampanga to the North Luzon Expressway "to cut the travel time to the airport and promote it as one of the country's premier gateways."
"In anticipation of the influx of visitors and to show that the government is really serious in marketing Clark International Airport as another premier gateway, the needed infrastructure support must be provided," the lawmaker said. "This will make the airport and the Freeport Zone more attractive to visitors especially since the government has given the go signal for the Clark Green City Project, and with the increasing economic activity at the Clark Special Economic Zone."
According to Guiao, the construction of an access road linking the airport to NLEX will not only improve the travel time from the Northern National Capital Region to the airport, but "will also help de-clog the roads of Angeles City and Mabalacat City, and promote tourism and development in the area."
"The DPWH must plan, design and build a direct access road to Clark from NLEX at a suitable location to minimize cost while maximizing potential benefits to the tourism industry and the overall economic development in the region," Guiao added. "This investment will surely reap tremendous returns for Central Luzon and the whole country."
