Another day, another viral road rage incident. Hopefully, with legislation in place, these things will stop getting out of hand.

The recent incident to make the rounds on social media involves a black Toyota Fortuner that rammed—seemingly repeatedly and intentionally at that—a black Hyundai Eon on the side of the road. We’ll spare you the video, but in the footage, it could be seen that the SUV was still trying to run over the passenger—who was identified as a male senior citizen—when he got out of the small hatch. Fortunately, the SUV driver failed and eventually went on his merry way.

Netizens and authorities have since identified that this took place in Olongapo City, and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has officially ordered a probe into the incident. The LTO has also identified the conduction sticker of the vehicle being investigated.

“I have already directed the Regional Director of LTO-Region III to look into this incident and immediately issue a Show Cause Order to the registered owner of this vehicle,” said LTO chief Atty. Vigor Mendoza. “Malinaw sa video na hindi katanggap-tanggap ang inasal ng driver kung saan matapos banggain ay tinakbuhan pa ang kanyang responsibilidad.”

The agency says it will be able to initiate immediate action against the registered owner and the driver of the vehicle. We’ll keep you posted on this as soon as we receive more updates, but for now, you can check out the LTO’s official statement below.
