Good things come to those who wait, or something like that. We're sure many car owners out there would rather receive their license plates than hear that idiom one more time. Well, if you registered your car between July 1 to October 31, 2016, your wish is finally being answered.

Land Transportation Office (LTO) assistant secretary Edgar Galvante announced today that plates registered on those dates are being circulated to LTO regional offices in batches, for distribution to the district offices, which will then issue the plates to their owners. Galvante said that the available plates will be released simultatenously to their respective regions by the first week of July.

"The LTO will notify the vehicle owners on the dates they may claim their plates. We ask our clients to wait for their notification so they do not waste their time going to the LTO office only to be disappointed," Galvante said.

These plates are the first batch produced at the government organization's new plate-making facility in Quezon City. As of June 18, 387,000 plates have been made.

For those of you still waiting on plates registered before July 1, 2016, Galvante said that the agency is awaiting the Commission on Audit's resolution on the disallowance. And as far as motorcycle plates go, the LTO is waiting for Congress' go signal on the new size. Until then, Galvante assures riders that they can use their motorcycles as long as they're registered and have their plates/MV file numbers displayed.
