The Land Transportation Office has reported that as of June 30, 2025, the license plate backlog that started in 2014 has been completely resolved.

Since 2014, the LTO has expanded the production of license plates, manufacturing a total of 18,578,612 plates over the past 11 years. Almost 12 million of those plates are assigned to motorcycles, while the rest are for motor vehicles.

Agency chief and acting assistant secretary Atty. Greg G. Pua then announced that deliveries of license plates will now be fast-tracked, as the LTO continues to find other ways to get motorists and vehicle owners their plates.

Many social media users commented on the LTO’s report, saying they still have not received their plates. Some also shared that their vehicles, which were purchased as far back as 2016, have yet to be issued license plates.

Several comments also criticized the LTO Tracker, the agency’s online platform for license plate delivery, as a majority of the complaints state that the tracker is not updated and does not reflect the cleared backlog. Motorists are charged around P158.49 for license plate delivery, and some have shared that deliveries were prompt and quick, while others mentioned that it took almost a month for their plates to reach their home.

The LTO’s report notes that over seven million plates have been turned over to vehicle owners.
