This weekend, Makati City marks its 349th anniversary. As part of Foundation Day 2019, several roads will be closed to public access. See the Makati City government’s post below:
Starting today until 12pm on Sunday, June 23, the whole stretch of Lawton Street will be closed to give way for the Grand Parade and Grand Salu-Salo. The parade will start on Saturday at 3pm from Makati City Hall toward Lawton Street. Normal traffic will resume on Sunday at 12:01pm. To manage the flow traffic, enforcers will be deployed along Kalayaan Avenue and J.P. Rizal Extension.
During this time, motorists are advised to take the following alternate routes:
Vehicles going to Bonifacio Global City (BGC) via Lawton Street (from East Rembo or West Rembo):
- Along J.P. Rizal Street, turn left to Sgt. Fabian Yabut Street in Guadalupe Nuevo and head toward Kalayaan Avenue. From Kalayaan Avenue, make a U-turn at the corner of Edsa-Kalayaan Avenue, then turn right to 32nd Street to destination.
Private and public utility vehicles going to Pasig or Pateros via Kalayaan Avenue:
- From EDSA, turn right to Kalayaan Avenue. Heavy traffic is expected before Lawton or Kalayaan intersection, so a stop-and-go scheme will be implemented in the area.
Private and public utility vehicles going to BGC via Lawton Avenue:
- Along J.P. Rizal Avenue, turn right to West Cloverleaf, and turn right to EDSA-southbound. From EDSA, turn left to McKinley-Ayala Avenue intersection and head toward BGC or C5 to destination.
Private vehicles coming from Mandaluyong City along EDSA going to BGC via West Cloverleaf, J.P. Rizal, and Lawton Avenue:
- Head straight to EDSA/Ayala Avenue/McKinley intersection. Turn left to McKinley Street and head toward BGC area or C5 Road to destination.
