The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has inaugurated free bike-to-work end-of-trip (EOT) showers for cyclists at the Motorcycle Riding Academy in Pasig City. The initiative aims to promote sustainable active mobility in Metro Manila, ensuring cyclists have a comfortable transition from the road to their workplace.
The EOT facilities consist of four shower rooms—one male, one female, and two all-gender rooms—complete with shoe racks and heated water. The facilities also have bike racks and changing rooms.

The MMDA has plans to roll out EOT facilities across Metro Manila as part of this administration’s socioeconomic agenda, which promotes sustainable transportation. These facilities can help make cycling a more practical transportation option for workers and employees.

LPG distributor Republic Gas Corp. (Regasco) will contribute to the initiative by donating hygiene supplies, including soaps, shampoos, and 1,000 towels for cyclists. The MMDA is also looking forward to partnerships with private organizations to support the initiative through subsidies of water and electricity for the EOT facilities.
In addition, the agency said that it is exploring the possibility of operating the EOT facilities 24/7 to accommodate more cyclists, with around 1,700 cyclists using the EDSA bike lane daily. For increased security, users are required to register upon entry before using the free facilities.

"Kami dito sa MMDA ay gumagawa ng programa,” said MMDA chairman Atty. Don Artes. “At asahan niyo po na maglalagay pa kami ng mga similar facilities all over Metro Manila para matulungan ang mga kababayan na nagbibisikleta lalo na ‘yung mga pumapasok sa trabaho at opisina.”
“Ang goal natin dito ay simple lamang,” adds MMDA general manager Nicolas Torre III. “To protect the welfare of the cyclists.”
“I would like to thank the MMDA for recognizing cyclists,” expressed Siklista Pilipino cycling representative Pio Fortuno Jr. “I hope a lot of private companies would follow the example of MMDA na maglagay din sila ng bike-friendly facilities.”
