The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority has announced that several roads leading to Rizal Park will be temporarily closed on Thursday, June 12, for Independence Day.
Those traveling through Manila may take alternate routes to avoid the traffic and road closures altogether, the agency says. To further help smooth the flow of traffic, it is also deploying 1,100 additional personnel to assist motorists passing through Manila.

The biggest road closure will take place on the north- and southbound lanes of Roxas Boulevard, specifically from Buendia to P. Burgos Street. The roads will close at 5am and will open again at 11:30am, after the festivities at Rizal Park.

Within the same window, parts of Bonifacio Drive, T.M. Kalaw, Finance Road, and Maria Orosa will also be closed to make way for the Independence Day celebration. Additionally, P. Burgos—from Taft Avenue and back to Roxas Boulevard—will be closed as well. Finally, starting midnight on June 12, the entirety of Katigbak Drive, Independence Road, and South Road will be closed until 11:30am.
The agency has suggested the following alternate routes for private vehicles and trucks. These routes also highlight the specific parts of the roads that will be closed on the morning of June 12.
Alternate northbound routes for private vehicles:

Those on Roxas Boulevard have the option to either turn right onto Buendia and proceed left onto Taft Avenue, or turn right onto EDSA then left onto Osmeña.
Alternate southbound routes for private vehicles:

Cars on R-10, Bonifacio Drive, going toward Anda Circle, will need to turn left onto Soriano Avenue, then right onto Solana Street. From there, it’s a left onto Muralla Street, another left onto Magallanes Drive, and then a final right onto P. Burgos.
Alternate route for trucks:

The MMDA advisory indicates that trucks may use this same route for both north- and southbound trips. Starting from SLEX, head toward Osmeña Highway, then turn right onto Quirino Avenue. From there, it’s straight to Nagtahan Street until a left turn onto Yuseco Street, and then finally toward Capulong Street. Trucks then have the option to turn left or right.
Trucks in Parañaque will need to turn right onto EDSA toward the Magallanes Service Road, which will lead them to turn left onto Osmeña Highway. That will then lead to Nagtahan Street, and then toward Lacson Avenue.
