It’s official: The speed limit on select sections of Skyway Stage 3 will increase to 80kph effective January 20, 2025. Specifically, the higher speed limit will be enforced on the elevated toll road’s straight sections.
The same 80kph speed limit will also be implemented on the straights of the NAIA Expressway (NAIAX) beginning January 15, 2025.
Note, however, that on the curved parts of both tollways, the speed limit remains at 60kph.

According to tollway operator SMC Infrastructure, the speed-limit adjustments have been made following a comprehensive study. “This change will make travel on NAIAX and Skyway Stage 3 faster and more efficient for everyone,” said Ramon S. Ang, chairman and CEO of San Miguel Corporation. “We have carefully studied this to make sure that it benefits motorists while prioritizing safety.
“This also complements the ongoing reconfiguration of exit plazas at NAIAX, which should allow for less congestion and help improve motorists’ experience on the expressway.”

Traffic patrollers deputized by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) with radar speed guns will be on the lookout for speeding motorists. Apprehended violators at tollway exits will have their driver’s license confiscated, and will be issued a temporary operator’s permit.
“We appeal to our motorists to observe speed limits at our expressway facilities for the safety of all,” Ang said.
