The NLEX Corporation has announced that it will waive toll fee collection on the northbound stretch from Balintawak to Meycauayan today, June 22, 2025, from 1am to 12am tomorrow, June 23.
During that time, the tollway operator will be conducting repairs on the Marilao Interchange Bridge, which sustained heavy damage after an overheight truck crashed into it last June 18, 2025. The crash left one person dead and injured six other individuals.

The Department of Transportation then ordered the NLEX Corporation to suspend toll collection until repairs are completed. This crash marks the second instance that an overheight truck crashed into the Marilao Interchange Bridge. The NLEX Corporation has also been directed to explain how a second illegal truck managed to enter its tollway and collide with the same structure.

Since then, the tollway operator has clarified that the bridge is part of Bulacan’s road network, and therefore not under the jurisdiction of the expressway. The company has now offered to build a brand-new bridge, but it looks like the construction taking place tomorrow is just for repairs.
While the NLEX Corporation has not issued a traffic or lane-closure advisory, motorists heading north from Balintawak can most likely expect some traffic buildup towards the Marilao Interchange.
