Fresh off the launch of the all-new Creta and Elantra, Hyundai Motor Philippines (HMPH) is once again back with another new model: the all-new Kona.
It’s been a while since this model was launched in its home market, and it’s only now that we’re getting it. Not that we’re complaining, because we weren’t exactly expecting it to make a comeback.

The all-new Kona boasts modern styling, with a thin lightbar on the hood. Black plastics adorn the front bumper, with triangular headlamps flanking the sleek grille. It sits on flashy two-tone alloy wheels. At the rear, it gets a lightbar to match the look up front.

On the inside, it gets plenty of trim that you see from other Hyundai models. There’s a mix of soft-touch and hard plastics all around, with a sprinkle of leather and fabric here and there. The steering wheel as well as the buttons and knobs on the center console are all familiar.
Turbocharged gasoline and fully electric powertrains are available in other markets, but here in the Philippines, we only get the 1.6-liter gasoline hybrid that puts out a combined 139hp and 144Nm of torque and is mated to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Only two variants are available at launch, starting with the HEV GLS 6DCT priced at P1.528 million. The higher HEV Premium trim stickers for P1.688 million. You can check out the price list below.
