It’s not just the Internet and sound motorists getting fed up with all those people going viral on social media for standing in parking slots to reserve them—the government is now also making moves against this.

Recently, the Mindful Parking Act was filed in Congress, which essentially penalizes this type of behavior. But it doesn’t end there, as the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and Metro Manila Council (MMC) are also looking to create new legislation similar to that.

The MMDA and MMC are reportedly set to draft a resolution urging all 17 local government units in the capital to file ordinances forbidding and penalizing this ‘human reservation’ scheme.

While it’s sad that we’ve come to this, we’re glad that authorities are now stepping in to punish unacceptable behavior like this. Or you could also flip that sentence if you feel more frustrated than you are relieved, you do you. At the end of the day, this has to stop, and if legislation is needed to achieve that, then so be it.
