Residents of Sta. Mesa in Manila City, here’s an important announcement: Expect heavier traffic than the usual on Magsaysay Boulevard.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has just announced that there will be drainage construction along the major thoroughfare and that the westbound portion will be partially closed for four months. The closure is scheduled from September 27, 2024 to January 26, 2025.

Partial closure of Magsaysay Boulevard westbound:

The DPWH press release reads: “Rehabilitation works along the westbound lane will cover 214.00 linear meters from Pureza Street, and will cross eastbound 34.70 linear meters long, requiring partial road closure of the outermost lane.”
The agency has also provided alternate routes so motorists can avoid the roadworks when possible. We’ve included the infographic below. Regardless of alternate routes, though, this is something motorists in the area or those who frequently pass this highway should take note of, as traffic is only expected to get even worse now that the holidays are fast approaching. Plan your trips accordingly, folks, and drive safe out there.
