SMC Tollways has just opened the new San Pedro northbound interchange on the South Luzon Expressway. It is expected to accommodate as many as 10,000 vehicles daily and reduce travel time from San Pedro City to Metro Manila by a substantial 45min.
Previously, motorists headed towards the metro made use of the Susana Heights or Southwoods Interchanges, subsequently adding to the traffic congestion in those areas. With this new exit, there should be fewer vehicles on the Manila South Road, and those exiting via San Pedro southbound to reach Southwoods.

It first broke ground in 2018, and after over seven years of construction, the project accumulated a total cost of P915 million.

Meanwhile, the neighboring Ayala Greenfield Interchange is still under construction. Once completed, it will offer drivers traversing through Calamba, Laguna, better access to more localities around the area and a faster route towards the STAR Tollway and Batangas.
Drivers further south can also expect new extensions on their segments of the SLEX in the foreseeable future. At his fourth State of the Nation Address, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced that the Toll Road 4 section of the expressway would open sometime in 2026. This would cut down travel time between Tiaong, Quezon, and Metro Manila from four hours to just one.
