Yamaha Motor Philippines (YMPH) started the year strong with the launch of the all-new NMax Tech Max. Now, as we start to go deeper into the second half of 2025, the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer has unveiled another competitive new offering: the all-new Aerox.
What’s important to note here first is that YMPH has dropped the Mio from the badge, so don’t go around calling this bike the wrong name. This next-generation model boasts new styling, new tech, and a revolutionary new transmission.
Walkaround: Yamaha Aerox SP 2025
Let’s start with the variants first. There are two available upon launch, specifically the standard version and the SP. Aesthetically, the two are the same, with a few small updates to the design, such as the textured plastic trim by the floorboard and on the front beak. As far as colors go, the standard comes in Glaze Blue, Racing Blu, and Yamaha Black. The top-of-the-line SP can be had with an exclusive Matte Blue finish.

In other aspects, however, the two Aerox variants are very different. The SP comes equipped with single-channel ABS, a traction control system, and an improved rear suspension—all of which aren’t available in the base trim. There’s also a new instrument cluster on the SP that allows for smartphone connectivity, provides valuable information, and even has a track timer.
But perhaps the most important bit here is that the all-new Yamaha Aerox still packs a familiar 155cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine, but now it comes mated to Yamaha’s revolutionary electric CVT, or the Y-ECVT. As with the NMax Tech Max, this one enables the use of the three-level downshift control and the different ride modes.
