Hopefully, the delay is minimal

In case you missed it, a pretty serious fire broke out at a San Miguel Corporation (SMC) warehouse this morning. According to the company, it took 50 fire trucks to put out the fire, but thankfully no fatalities or injuries have been reported.

“We continue to monitor developments and are ready to provide assistance to anyone directly affected by the incident,” SMC said in a statement. “We also extend our full support and cooperation to authorities as they investigate the cause of the fire.”

There was one casualty, though: The blaze was so large that it damaged a nearby segment of the Skyway Stage 3, causing a portion of the project to collapse.

SMC says around 300 meters of the Skyway Stage 3 construction was affected by the fire. The company added that its infrastructure technical team headed to the construction site following the blaze, but that the full extent of the damage has yet to be determined.

“Rest assured, SMC Infrastructure will rebuild and resume construction at the soonest possible time, with the least delay on the projected completion date of Skyway 3,” SMC said.

The Skyway Stage 3 Project was slated to be completed by the end of 2020. We’re crossing our fingers that this doesn’t set the project back too much.
