Connecting the North Luzon Expressway to the South Luzon Expressway is one step closer to being realized as the bosses of the two main expressways connecting Metro Manila to northern and southern provinces, have formally pitched their projects to President Benigno Aquino III.
Yesterday, May 23, Metro Pacific Investments Corporation chairman Manny Pangilinan formally presented to PNoy his company's NLEX-SLEX Connector Road Project, while San Miguel Corporation president and chief operating officer Ramon Ang presented the SMC-Citra Group's Skyway Citra PNCC Alignment-SMC (Skyway CPA-SMC).
The Connector Road project of Metro Pacific Tollways is a 13.4km road that will connect the NLEX to the SLEX by building an elevated expressway over the Philippine National Railways tracks and the remaining 2.7km over Osmeña Highway.
The SMC-Citra Group's Skyway CPA-SMC, meanwhile, is a 14km elevated expressway that will connect Buendia in Makati City to Balintawak in Quezon City by going through Manila. According to SMC-Citra, the Skyway CPA-SMC is only the third of the four stages it has planned for the 30km Metro Manila Skyway project approved by the government in 1995.
