The buzz now in Formula 1 centers on the reported decision of the motorsport's governing body, the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile, to ban helmet design changes within an F1 season. According to Reuters, the seemingly petty new rule is "aimed at helping fans identify their heroes and also at pleasing traditionalists."

In the last few years, there has been a significant increase in the trend of F1 drivers--especially you, Sebastian Vettel--changing the design and the colors of their helmets every few races or so. The FIA is apparently convinced that this is causing some confusion among fans who want to be able to readily identify their favorite drivers on the racetrack.

Needless to say, this imminent ruling has caused quite a stir among drivers who are fond of wearing different helmet designs throughout the course of a season.

To be honest, we're all for this rule. We miss the days when F1 drivers were uniquely associated with their iconic headgear. Here, we've compiled 10 of our favorite helmet designs through the decades. If you're a true F1 fan, you will be able to name the drivers just by looking at the helmets' color schemes.

How many of these helmets can you identify correctly? Go!
